'From Research to Business' was the theme for the FTP Conference 2009 in Stockholm. A large number of fruitful results from research were presented.

This is the 6th FTP conference since the start of the Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform. As it is almost a year and half since the last conference, it will offer a meeting point for the sector as well as an excellent possibility for networking. The conference will be held on Monday and Tuesday November 9-10, 2009, with a welcome reception on Sunday evening, November 8, and with possibilities for interesting study tours on Wednesday November 11.

More than 30 speakers shone their light on research-business collaboration
As the theme for the conference is "From Research to Business" considerable efforts have been put on identifying concrete results of science-business collaboration. The list of speakers is a mix of people from industry, funding organisations and research organisations, all well known in the sector.

The conference started with key note speeches by Swedish Forest minister Eskil Erlandsson followed by industrialist Marcus Wallenberg. Four sessions followed about Innovative products, Manufacturing processes, Availability of forest biomass and Sustainability and the societal perspective. In the closing session information from WoodWisdom-Net and other ongoing projects were provided.

Pre-conference Researchers' Forum
On Monday morning November 9, just before the opening of the conference, a number of side events took place, one of which is the Researchers' Forum. This was a new kind of poster session where researchers were invited to present their project in maximum five minutes, if possible describing openings for new businesses in the years to come. The Researchers Forum offered an excellent opportunity to get a brief introduction to a number of the latest ideas and findings from research. The Forum was open for all interested, not only those who gave presentations.
