The European Commission has launched on 6 June 2016 a public consultation on Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 2 “Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy” covering the final years of the Horizon 2020 funding programme.

The consultation aims at providing input towards the priority setting for EU research and innovation funding on the most relevant and urgent challenges for the areas covered by Societal Challenge 2, including among others sustainable forestry and agriculture, as well as the bio-based industries and the bioeconomy.

Stakeholders of the forest-based sector are invited to contribute to the consultation that will feed into preparation of the Societal Challenge 2. In support of a coordinated action of the sector, FTP will provide its stakeholders with guidelines to respond to the consultation. The deadline for submissions is 28 August 2016.

The Commission continues to develop the content of Work Programme 2018-2020 during the fourth quarter of 2016 and first semester 2017, with adoption and publication of Calls for Proposals in the autumn of 2017.
