Vision for 2030
At the beginning of 2005, the following Vision for the year 2030 was adopted for the Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform:
" The European forest-based sector plays a key role in a sustainable society.
It comprises a competitive, knowledge-based industry that fosters the extended use of renewable forest resources.
It strives to ensure its societal contribution in the context of a bio-based, customer-driven and globally competitive European economy. "
Development of the Vision document
Development of the Vision Document for the European forest-based sector was completed in February 2005. The Vision Document was officially published in the launching event of the Forest-based sector Technology Platform on 15 February 2005 in Brussels in the context of the FBI Forum.
The content of the document is based on a European-wide consultation amongst key stakeholders led by a project group. During autumn 2004, several activities were carried out within different EU-countries and organisations. These activities had the aim to collect views and inputs to the document and included workshops arranged by R&D institutes, analysis of future products in different companies and together with individuals, and the like. Existing materials, such as CEI-Bois RoadMap 2010, were also utilised in the preparation of the vision.
Inputs to the Vision 2030 document were supplied by
- companies, universities, research institutes, associations
- national support groups
- national experts
- authorities at different levels and European Commission services
The FTP warmly thanks all those persons and organisations who contributed during a very intensive project.
After elaboration of the Vision 2030, a Strategic Research Agenda was also prepared.
