Horizon 2020 Call topics for 2018-2020 now available

The EU recently published the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018, 2019 and 2020. For these last three years of Horizon 2020 an investment of around € 30 billion will be represented. Various Calls for proposals set out upcoming funding opportunities for the forestry, woodworking and processing industries. FTP is currently analysing the available information and opportunities for the forest-based sector. A list detailing the most relevant Call topics for the forest-based sector will be created, together with a manual of relevant work programmes (WP’s) under the following pillars:


Industrial Leadership: Nanotechnologies, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing and processing, and biotechnology

Industrial Leadership: Space

Societal Challenge 2: Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research, and the bioeconomy

Societal Challenge 3: Secure, clean and efficient energy 

Societal Challenge 5Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials


The manual will describe the specific challenge to be addressed, the scope of the activities to be carried out, the expected impacts to be achieved, as well as opening dates and deadlines. The most relevant Call topics for the forest-based sector will be available through the ‘Horizon 2020 Calls for 2018-2020/ the manual for the Call topics relevant for the forestry-based sector’.
