LIFE funding for forest management

The EU’s multiannual programme for environment and climate, LIFE, has launched its 2018 Call for proposals.

The LIFE programme is structured around two sub-programmes: environment and climate action. Each holds specific thematic priorities with major relevance for forest management. With investments up to € 400 million, LIFE will co-finance pilot and demonstration projects to develop, test and demonstrate best management approaches dealing with environmental challenges. Reforestation and the reduction of invasive alien species are among key project level indicators.

Public institutions, businesses and NGOs registered in the EU can apply. The LIFE programme also accepts applications for larger-scale projects that have a regional, multiregional, national or transnational scope. The renewed two-stage application procedure allows candidates to outline their ideas in a concept note by mid-June, at the latest.
