NSG Germany picking up new momentum

Initiated by Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS) and in successful cooperation with the Chemistry Cluster Bavaria and the Bavarian Forestry and Wood Cluster Initiative, an expert workshop was organized in Munich on 12 December 2017. The theme of the workshop, “Wood-based fibres and fibre composites in the context of raw material change” attracted representatives from industry and science from a wide range of sectors (paper, wood, textile and chemicals). Together they discussed trends and opportunities for fibres and fibre composites. Various break-out sessions facilitated discussions on future opportunities and solution strategies, the development of a fibre competence centre and special wood-derived chemicals.

The meeting set the stage for a restructuring of the German NSG and the development of new joint initiatives to strengthen research and innovation in the forest-based industries in Germany.
